Welcome to Papyrus Tours

About the Company

ATOL Protected 9086Our aim is to take people interested in natural history to some of the best wildlife destinations in the world where they can enjoy the experience with expert guidance, at a sensible pace, staying in good quality accommodation at a competitive price.

Papyrus has been operating for over 25 years, beginning in East Africa and going from there to embrace destinations in Central America, Europe, Southern Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. We continue to expand and organised tours to Sri Lanka, Estonia and British Columbia for the first time in 2011. Our 2013 programme includes an exciting new tour to Spain.

We cater for tour members with varying degrees of knowledge and expertise, from interested beginner to expert – all that we ask is that they bring a sufficiently strong enthusiasm for wildlife to maintain their interest in tours which are mainly wildlife in content but may also embrace other interests.

All tours are accompanied by an experienced leader based in the UK or abroad who is there to interpret and help tour members appreciate not only the wildlife but also the landscape, history and culture of the countries being visited.

Importantly, we will seek to do this at an unhurried pace avoiding, where possible, one night stop-overs and limiting mileages between destinations, thus providing ample opportunities for tour members to absorb their experiences.

Papyrus operates on a low ratio of 6:1 maximum of tour members : UK leader for certain African tours and up to 12:1 at destinations where there is a substantial input from local guides. We guarantee a window seat where viewing of wildlife from vehicles is necessary.

When comparing our prices, remember that the Papyrus price is truly all-inclusive. It includes all travel from your departure airport in the UK, accommodation with en suite facilities (except where stated), all meals, bottled water on the journeys and all tipping at hotels/lodges and for your driver/guides. The only additional costs for you are travel insurance, passport and visa costs, medication cost (eg anti-malaria tablets) any souvenirs you may buy and drinks with your meals.

Our destinations are grouped into geographical zones in the following pages where you will find some basic information on forthcoming tours. If you would like to discuss any of the tours or the organisation of a tailor-made tour to suit your own requirements, we would be very pleased to help you. Recent tour reports are available for many of the locations that Papyrus visit and we will be pleased to forward you a copy if you wish.

We have reviewed our operating arrangements and have decided not to print a bochure in future years. However, we will be able to provide you with all the information on destinations of interest to you if you contact us at the following address.
